After a break of 13 years, team manager Sarah Johnson, once again took the driver's seat and piloted Ian's car around the South Downs Stages at Goodwood in early February 2006. Sarah was ably co-driven by her old sponsor and infamous co-driver, the late John Mckerrell. She was last seen driving John McKerrell's Metro 6R4 throughout 1992/93 and chose to retire when the Metro was put to permanent rest. 'The Metro 6R4 is a unique and memorable car to drive and has remained as my last memory of competitive driving for many years and I chose to retire with those experiences of the 6R4 foremost in my mind, but after such a long absence it was time to see whether I could still compete'.
Sarah and John took 2nd in class honours and another event was planned in June.
Just two weeks after Sarah's outing, Ian had a massive accident at the Longcross venue. Extensive repairs, including a new body shell meant that any further plans for 2006 were halted. The year was further marred by the passing of John McKerrell in July, following a long illness. He will be much missed by the team.
Both Ian and Sarah plan further outings during 2007.
